SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Paul Francis Gorman Jr. died July 2, 2006, at a local healthcare facility after a valiant battle against cancer. Paul was born Oct. 21, 1943, in New York, to Paul F. Gorman Sr. and Edith A. (Jackson) Gorman. He spent his teen years in Springfield, Mass. attending local schools and graduated from UMASS-Amherst. Paul was a true “Renaissance Man.” He had a thirst for knowledge. His friends will attest to his multiple talents and skills. He explored every new interest with a ferociousness to understand, and frequently excelled to expert level. Paul’s hobbies and crafts often won him awards and recognition. Although Paul moved to Southwest Harbor only a few years ago, he had spent many years enjoying the wonders of Acadia National Park. He made many friends here through his many interests and was a volunteer for the Southwest Harbor Library and Island Connections, as well as, lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Paul is survived by his sister, Kathleen Maynard and her husband, Robert, of Southwest Harbor; three nieces, Colleen Maynard of Trenton, Denise Maynard of East Providence, R.I. and Michele L. Tack of Meriden, Conn.; and a special great-nephew, Caleb Earley. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Barbara G. Lovering. At his request, Paul will be cremated and there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to either the Southwest Harbor Library, P.O.
