WHITNEYVILLE – Mary B. Pennell, 83, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. A lifelong resident of Whitneyville, she was born there March 13, 1922, the daughter of the late Harry and Gladys (Bagley) Bridges. She attended local schools graduating from Machias High School. Upon graduation, she was employed for many years at the former Millikan’s Textile in Machias. Mrs. Pennell was an active member in the Whitneyville Congregational Church for many years. She was also a member of the Whitneyville Library Association. She enjoyed cooking, baking apple pies and making her famous peanut butter fudge. She shared 57 years of marriage with Ralph E. Pennell Sr. of Whitneyville. In addition to her husband, family members include a son, Ralph E. Pennell Jr. and his wife, Roberta, of Whitneyville; a granddaughter, Samantha Robicheau; and two great- grandchildren, Emily Robicheau and Bryce Pennell, all of East Millinocket and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also survived by two very special friends, Imogene Leighton and Frances Grover, both of Machias. She was predeceased by three brothers, Harry, Robert and Colby Bridges; and a sister, Helen Bridges. Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the Whitneyville Congregational Church, Main Street, Whitneyville. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. Burial will follow in the Longfellow Cemetery, Machias.
