CARIBOU – Mary E. Berube, 81, wife of Leo R. Berube, died Thursday morning, Feb. 10, 2005, at a Caribou nursing facility. She was born Oct. 21, 1923, at Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Alden A. and Tressa H. (Colpitts) Day. She was a graduate of the Fort Fairfield High School and was married to Leo R. Berube on March 8, 1943. Mary was a resident of Caribou for more than 50 years, and was a communicant of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Caribou. Mrs. Berube was an avid reader and loved to knit and crochet. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Berube was predeceased by an infant daughter, Valerie Lee Berube; two brothers, Otis and Lendal Day; one sister, Earline M. Cyr. She is survived by her husband, Leo R. Berube of Caribou; three sons, Brent Berube and Peter Berube, both of Columbia, S.C., Larry Berube of Southern California; three daughters and sons-in-law, Arline and Randy Jameson of Las Vegas, Nev., Sharon and Ray Malenfant of Belchertown, Mass., Vicki and Mark Lerma of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; one sister, Audrey Goodine of Southwest Harbor; eight grandchildren, Ricky Searles of New Hampshire, Terry Searles of Florida, Larry Searles of Pennsylvania, Kurt Paterson of Presque Isle, Kristi Gracie of Hermon, Amber Santiago of Lamore, Calif., Andrea and Angela Huston, both of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Mary’s wishes, there will be no services at this time. A service of committal will be held at the Old Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Caribou, later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Berube to the Maine Parkinson Society, MaineHealth Learning Resource Center, Maine Medical Center-Scarborough, 100 US Rt.
