HOULTON – Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Jenkins, 74, died Oct. 23, 2006, surrounded by her family at a local hospital. She was born Sept. 21, 1932, in Houlton, the daughter of Louis and Isabelle (DeMechant) Cyr. Betty attended Houlton schools and was a graduate of Houlton High School. She was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Visitation Church and was employed for many years in the medical records department of Houlton Regional Hospital. Betty’s greatest joys were cooking for and spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Ann Jenkins of Bangor, Ann Marie Crain of Woodstock, New Brunswick, and Mary Ann Sanders of Woodstock, New Brunswick; four sisters, Marie Jenkins of Houlton, Yvonne Lovelette of Vermont, Margaret Parker and Janice Lovelette of Presque Isle; two brothers, Edward Cyr of Portland and Leland Cyr of Houlton; five grandchildren, Rachel Jenkins, Justin Crain, Jenna Crain, Rebecca Sanders and Benjamin Sanders; many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her husband, John “Jack” Jenkins; two brothers, Clarence and Earl Cyr; and two sisters, Phyllis Murphy and Madeline Reynolds. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated noon Thursday at Saint Mary of the Visitation Church with the Rev. Eddie Morin celebrant. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
