CHERRYFIELD – Mary Evelyn Emerson, 63, beloved mother and friend, died Jan. 9, 2006, unexpectedly at MCMH. She was born Sept. 4, 1942, in Upper Marlboro, Md. Mary was an avid gardener and had a strong passion for nature. She spent numerous hours landscaping around her home and watching her wild birds. She was an active member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Columbia, Maine. She spent many hours with her special friend and pastor, Grace, serving the Lord. She was a member of AA and was sober for 24 years. Mary attended Forestville High School in Maryland and later earned her diploma at Narraguagus High School at the age of 58. She continued her education by attending numerous classes learning office skills. She is survived by her beloved son, Clifton “Tooter” Emerson Jr. of Jonesport; her daughters, Sandra Watson of Machias, Gina Hendry and her husband, Ian, of Ellsworth, Brenda Beal and her husband, Michale, Donna Perry of Jonesboro and her oldest son, Marty Grover of Maryland; a sister, Peggy Strealey of Virginia; a brother, Donald Wood; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
