BANGOR – Mary Lou O. Williams, 69, passed away March 28, 2006, at a local hospital. She was born June 7, 1936, in Bangor, the daughter of Ralph and Lillian (York) Marquis. She graduated from John Bapst Memorial High School and Mercy Hospital in Portland. She worked at Mercy Hospital, Eastern Maine Medical Center, and a hospital in California. She worked for several years with the American Red Cross Blood Bank in Charleston, S.C. She retired from Bangor Mental Health Hospital. She will be fondly remembered for her generosity and kindness to people, and for her love of house cats. She is survived by her mother, Lillian; and her husband, Clement Marquis; her son, Anthony and his wife, Claire, of 4 Tamarack Circle, Topsham; a brother, Frederick and his wife, Joyce Marquis, of Orlando, Fla.; grandsons, Alexander and Steven Williams, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to her best friend and neighbor, Ellen (Lynn) Vivona who watched over Mary Lou like a guardian angel. She was predeceased by her husband, James Williams; her father, Ralph Marquis; one baby brother; her grandparents, Amos and Ophelia Marquis of Passadumkeag and Fred and Isabelle York of Howland. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. At her request there will be no viewing. A private graveside service will be held. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Ave., Bangor.
