HOULTON – Mary Louise (Higgins) Bodine, 82, died Nov. 23, 2004, at Mount Saint Joseph’s Continuing Care Facility in Waterville after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born June 15, 1922, in Houlton, the daughter of Stanley and Sylvia (Bates) Higgins. Mary Louise was a lifelong resident of Houlton and was a graduate of Houlton High School, Class of 1940. She loved the outdoors and hunting. She was a member of the Maine Big Buck Club, was proud to be a resident of Aroostook County and loved it’s beauty and it’s people. She was a life long Republican and a die hard Yankee fan (we won’t hold that against her.) Mary Louise was a caregiver first and foremost to her family and friends. She is survived and deeply missed by her two children, her daughter, Rebecca and her husband, Carl Young, of Mt. Ainy (?) Md.; one son, Matthew Bodine and his wife, Nancy, of South China; one beloved foster brother, Russell Rodgerson and his wife, Brenda, of Island Falls; a special niece, Salli (Higgins) Graham of Houlton; two granddaughters, Alison (Young) Stone of Union Bridge Md., and Audrey Young of Potomac Falls Va.; one grandson, Madison Bodine of South China; one great-grandson, Jeremy Stone, of Union Bridge, Md.; one nephew, Micah Rodgerson of Bangor; grand nieces, and many cousins; a life long friend, Arlene (Ramsey) Coyle of Windsor, Conn.; and a sister-in-law, Donna Tracy. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest “Moose” Bodine; a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Higgins; and one brother, Robert Higgins. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004, at Bowers Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, at the Houlton Wesleyan Church with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those who wish to donate in Mary Louise’s memory may do so to the Maine Conservation Education Foundation, 205 Church Hill Road, Augusta ME 04330. Arrangements by Bowers Funeral Home, Houlton.
