EAST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. Mary Louise (Connor) Rice, 87, died Thursday, April 19, 2007, at the Queen Ann Nursing home, Hingham, Mass., after a long illness. Born in Boston, she was a graduate of Girls Latin School, Dorchester, Mass., and she worked at Jordan Marsh Restaurant, Boston, for more than 20 years. She lived in Weymouth, Mass., for 35 years before moving to East Bridgewater, Mass., where she lived for 15 years. She was a member of the Melodians, East Bridgewater, singing in nursing homes and at different affairs. She was the treasurer of the Riddell Road Association, East Bridgewater. She was an avid reader, loved poetry and loved to paint. She was the beloved wife of the late Wilbert F. Rice, late Boston Fire Department; daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (McHale) Connor; loving mother of Margaret Mahoney of Greenville, William J. Rice, district fire chief of the Boston Fire Department, Quincy, Mass., Kathleen T. Allen of Bridgewater, Mass., and Walter F. Rice of Everett, Mass; sister of Thomas Connor of Braintree, Mass., and the late Joseph Connor of Colorado; nana of six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; aunt of Brigadier Gen. Gary Connor, U.S. Air Force, of Alabama; several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Monday at MacKinnon Funeral Home, 760 Washington St., off Route 18, Whitman, Mass. A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Ghost Church, Whitman, Mass. Friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend calling hours 3-7 p.m. Sunday.
