ORRINGTON – Mary “Pat” Varney, 72, wife of Daniel M. Varney for 34 years, died peacefully at her home, Dec. 17, 2003. She was born May 29, 1931, in Bangor, the daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Simmons) Augherton. Pat worked for Viner Shoe for 20 years and Bacon Printing for 19 years until her retirement. Surviving in addition to her husband, Daniel of Orrington; are two stepsons, Randy Varney and his wife, Brenda, of Florida, Brian Varney and his wife, Susan, of Glenburn; one stepdaughter, Margery and her husband, Ed Frost of Aurora; one brother, Howard Augherton and his wife, Jackie, of Bangor; two sisters, Joan and her husband, Ashley Dumont, of Brewer, and Sally Taylor of Brewer; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at Brookings-Smith, Clark-Piper Chapel, 55 So. Main St., Brewer, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Richard E. Harvey officiating. Spring interment will be in Marston Cemetery, Orrington. Relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments in the Brookings-Smith Reception Rooms, 55 So.
