PLYMOUTH – Mary V. Stackpole, 89, died Jan. 26, 2007, at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born Nov. 21, 1917, in Plymouth, a daughter of Fred and Avis (Hersey) Chase. She graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1936. On Oct. 26, 1940, she married Carlyle M. Stackpole. Mary was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Newport, and founded, along with her husband, the church AWANA program. She was also a past member of the Sebasticook Valley Grange. She enjoyed crocheting, the Boston Red Sox, bird watching and her flower gardens. Mary is survived by a son, Keith and wife, Dorothy, of North Yarmouth; a daughter, Joan Levensailor of Parkman; two sisters-in-law, Ellen Chase of Newport and Betty Stackpole of Georgia; eight grandchildren, seven great-grand-children, five great-great-grand-children, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 65 years, Carlyle, Feb. 14, 2005; and a brother, Irving Chase, July 23, 1988. Friends may call 6-7 p.m. Monday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at Calvary Baptist Church, 39 Grove St., Newport, with Pastor George Finnemore officiating.
