BANGOR – Matthew Scott Reynolds, 28, died unexpectedly July 6, 2007, at his home. Our beloved Matt was born July 16, 1978, in Ellsworth, the son of Edgar and Linda Reynolds. Matthew was known from childhood to adulthood for his sweet demeanor and wonderful sense of humor. He excelled at scholastics and after attending Narraguagus High School for three years, was chosen to represent the charter class at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone. Matthew enjoyed singing and playing the piano and his senior year participated in the All-State Chorus. The following year he attended the University of Maine in Orono on a full-scholarship and graduated summa cum laude in 2000, with a degree in English and a minor in business. Throughout his college years Matt spent several summers working for the Acadia Corporation and often spoke of the wonderful friends he had met there. Upon graduation he briefly took a position at the Lucerne Inn and the following year transferred to a job in hotel management at the Hampton Inn, Bangor. He was devoted to his work for the next six years, but always made the time to meet with family for special occasions and a lively game of cards. He enjoyed attending local cultural events and had a passion for music, especially from the 80s. Matthew was and will be remembered as a kind, caring and gentle man who loved his family and friends and who loved him greatly in return. He is survived by his parents, Edgar and Linda Reynolds of Addison; sister and brother-in-law, Allison and Terry Pratt of Addison; nephew and niece, Joshua and Katelyn Pratt of Addison; best friend and partner for the last seven years, Cassius Everett of Bangor; aunts and uncles, Charlotte Ladd of Orrington, Ellen Eberhardt of Portland, Lillian Provost of Massachusetts, Betty and Greg Gubler of Pennsylvania, Peter Raymond of Old Orchard, Sonny Raymond of Lincoln, Annette Munson of Lincoln and Richard Raymond of Old Orchard. He also leaves many dear cousins, extended family and friends whom he loved. Matthew was predeceased by his grandparents, Edgar and Rita Reynolds and Ralph and Caroline Beal. Special thanks go out to Amanda and Jacob Stupakewiz, Amberlea Freeman, Erin Prebble, Paul Tardiff, Val Davis, the Acadia Corporation and Ed Dennis, the staff at the Hampton Inn and for all those who have been such a wonderful support to his family in such a time of great sorrow. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. July 21, at Faith United Methodist Church, Columbia. The family requests that in lieu of flowers and gifts, donations may be made to the Matthew Reynolds Memorial Scholarship, which will be established for students graduating from Narraguagus High School.
