VEAZIE – Mattie Albert, 95, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, went home to be with her Lord July 15, 2006. She was born March 31, 1911, in Mapleton, the daughter of George and Ada (Pelkey) Campbell. The joy of Mattie’s life was caring for her home and family. She and her husband had a camp at Drews Lake for many years and enjoyed entertaining family and friends, especially with good cooking. She enjoyed good health up until the last three years and was very active. She was a faithful member of Essex Street Baptist Church, Bangor and enjoyed, so much, her church family who were such an encouragement to her. She is survived by two daughters, Maxine and her husband, Kenneth Cosman, and Faye Albert, all of Veazie; a sister, Ruby Patterson of Caribou; three granddaughters, Vicki and her husband, Dr. Richard Goodwin, Cathy and her husband, David O’Leary, all of Houlton and Cynthia and her husband, Carl Lozier, of Bucksport; grandson, Stephen Daniels and his wife, Francene, of Campton, N.H.; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin, Gabriel and Alexis Goodwin, Christopher and Jennifer O’Leary, Aimee and Kenneth Lozier and Desiree Daniels; great-great-grandchild, Harmonie Daniels; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Fred; her daughter, Jeanette Daniels of Houlton; five sisters, Della Campbell, Eva O’Donal, Grace Thibodeau, Laversa “Birdie” Grendell and Fern O’Donal; and five brothers, Wallace, Grover, Elmer, Ellery and Raleigh Campbell. In keeping with Mattie’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton, with the Rev. Randall Wilbur officiating. Interment will be in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be given to the Memorial Fund at Essex Street Baptist Church, 82-84 Essex St., Bangor, ME 04401.
