MATTIE SOUCIER PRESQUE ISLE – Mattie Soucier, 87, died Jan. 9, 2004, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. She was born April 6, 1916, in Ashland, the daughter of Joseph and Sophie (Shorett) Carney. She was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Presque Isle. She was a life long resident of this area and was known as a very kind and caring person by all who knew her. Surviving her are five sons, Ronald Soucier and his wife, Carol Ann, and Donald Saucier and his wife, Valarie, both of Presque Isle, Jeffrey Soucier and his wife, Joanne, of Ashland, Joseph Saucier and his friend, Verna, of Caribou, and Wendell Soucier of Presque Isle; a daughter, Marie Emily Dubey and her husband, Stanley, of Bristol, Conn.; one sister, Marie Charette of Unionville, Conn.; 22 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two daughters-in-law, Barbara Violette of Glastonbury, Conn., and Peggy Soucier of Presque Isle; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Carney of Presque Isle. She was predeceased by her husband, Gregory Soucier, in 1980; three brothers, Joseph Carney, William Carney, Stanley Carney; three sisters, Annie Morrow, Sadie Johanson and Rena Soucier; and one great-grandchild. Relatives and friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Monday at St Mary’s Catholic Church on Main St., with the Rev. Alfred Irving celebrant. A spring interment will be in St Mary’s North Main St. Cemetery.
