JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Maureen E. McAvoy, 52, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 18, 2007, at Orange Park Medical Center, Florida. Maureen was born June 7, 1954, in Presque Isle. She was a correctional officer at Union Correctional Institution, Raiford, Fla. She truly loved her job and all the people she worked with. She is predeceased by her husband, Stephen of Ashland. She is survived by her parents, Tom and Louise Butcher; mother-in-law, Jessie McAvoy of Patten; daughter, Teri Otero; and grandson, Rig Otero, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; several cousins; and a special friend, Pat Collins. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Town & Country Funeral Home, 7242 Normandy Blvd., Jacksonville, Fla. The family will be receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 23, at the funeral home.
