DEXTER- Maurice F. “Chib” Clukey, 81, died Jan. 6, 2008, at a Dexter health care facility. He was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Dexter, son of Francis and Juanita (Dulac) Clukey. After Chib graduated from N.H. Fay High School, he served for two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He attended Arnold College, Milford, Conn., and Farm-ington State Teachers College, graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science degree. At Farmington he participated in intramural programs and varsity basketball and baseball. During his senior year, he was elected president of Kappa Delta Phi fraternity and was also a member of other organizations on campus. After college Chib played semi-pro baseball for two years in Aroostook County and several years in the Dexter area. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed baseball, basketball and the New York Yankees. He worked for many years as director of the Summer Recreational Program and held different positions in local organizations. He taught grade 6 at Abraham Lincoln School, Bangor, for three years and completed his educational career in Dexter and SAD No. 46, retiring at the age of 57, after 32 years in education as a teacher and principal. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He was taken care of by long time companion and best friend, Marilyn Bolduc of Dexter. He is also survived by nine wonderful stepchildren, 26 grandchildren, three great- grandchildren; and his daughter-in-law, Kathy Clukey of Kennebunk. He was predeceased by his wives, Marilyn (Martin) Clukey and Faith (Skilling) Clukey; his son, Robert Clukey; and a sister, Alma Lessard. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
