WINN – Maurice Silas Elwell, 88, died Dec. 16, 2006, at his home. He was born May 2, 1918, in Arlington, Vt., the son of Raymond and Bessie (Bronson) Elwell. He loved the outdoors and loved working in his garden. He also loved his family. He is survived by a son, David Elwell and his wife, Katherine, of Winn; a daughter, Lynne Riel and her husband, Gregory, of Louden, N.H.; four grandchildren, Jan Riel of Louden, N.H., Jennifer Burritt of Concord, N.H., Sherry Bartlett of Deer Isle and Danny Mann of Milo; five great-grandchildren, William Mann of Winn, Edwin Mann of Winn, Bobbie Jo Bartlett and Miranda Mann, both of North Carolina and Danny Mann Jr. of Milo; and several great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ramona E. Elwell; a half brother, Roger Elwell; and a half sister, Dorothy Geary. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Bethel Chapel, Talmadge, with the Rev. Thomas Smith and the Rev. Eddie Costain officiating. A spring interment will be at East Winn Cemetery.
