MADAWASKA – Ella Dube Martin, 72, died Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at a Fort Kent health care facility, after a brief illness. She was born March 30, 1934 in Edmundston, New Brunswick, the daughter of William and Anne Plourdes Dube. She was married to Richard Martin for 50 years, and he predeceased her three years ago. Ella was primarily a mother and homemaker, but worked in banking and as an accountant for Central Building Supply for several years. She was very active with her church family, serving as lector and working in the gift shop. Her dedication to St. Thomas Aquinas Parish sustained her. Her faith was the foundation of her life. Ella had many talents and passions, among them were her skills in creating a beautifully decorated home. She was very artistic and created treasures that will be cherished by all who were fortunate to receive them. She shared a love of golf with her husband, Richard. Her passion in recent years was playing bridge, a hobby where she gained many new and valued friendships. As a cook, Ella was known for creating gourmet meals for her friends and family. She received much joy from entertaining. She is survived by two sons, Daniel Martin of DeSoto, Kan., and Wayne Martin and his wife, Jennifer, of Olsburg, Kan.; one daughter, Gisele Martin Carbonneau and her husband, Denis, of Essex Junction, Vt.; two brothers, Lucien Dube and Claude Dube; and one sister, Armande Dube. She loved and was very loved by her grandchildren, Erin Carbonneau and Taylor, Remy and Nathanael Martin. Her parents; and two brothers, Donald and Armand, predeceased her. At the request of the deceased there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Relatives and friends may call at the church one-hour prior to the service to greet the family. Burial will be held at St. Thomas Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ella’s memory to Make a Wish Foundation, 87 Elm St., Suite 203, Camden, ME 04843. Ella’s was a quality life well lived, she touched many people and will be greatly missed by all.
