GALESBURG, Ill. – Mrs. Maxine Adell Gardner, 76, of 832 North Broad St., Galesburg, Ill. died 3:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2005, at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, Ill. She was born March 29, 1929, in Bucksport, to Fred and Frances Eaton Turner. She married Elwin W. Gardner Nov. 24, 1949, in Ashland. He preceded her in death Dec. 16, 1995. Surviving are two sons, Elwin F. and wife, Ellie Gardner, of Mesa, Ariz. and Terry F. and wife, Becky, of Galesburg, Ill.; three daughters, Durena and husband, Arthur Roi, of Massena, N.Y., Sherry L. and husband, Brian MacLeod, of Seattle, Wash., and Lorraine L. and husband, Tim Justice, of Taloga, Okla.; two brothers, Richard E. and wife, Sandy Turner, of Minocqua, Wis. and Robert and wife, Barb, of Rochester, N.H.; three sisters, Caroline and husband, Marty Burnham, of Rockland, Elaine and husband, Walter Drew, of Columbia, Conn. and Jane McGowan of Ashland; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, one sister, and one grandson. Maxine was a waitress for 40 years working in several restaurants including, Captain Cook in Anchorage, Alaska and Tips in New Hall, Calif. She and her husband later owned and operated a semi truck, driving for C & H out of Texas. She retired in 1988. She was a member of Church of Christ, Apache Junction, Ariz. She graduated from Bucksport High School. Cremation will be accorded. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Knox County Nursing Home Chapel. There will be no visitation. Burial of ashes will be at a later date in Maine. Memorials can be made to the Knox County Nursing Home.
