POWNAL – Maxine L. Morgan, 77, passed away peacefully Nov. 22, 2007, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born Jan. 24, 1930, in Sangerville, to Doris (Easler) and Floyd Lambert. She attended Sangerville schools, graduating valedictorian of her high school class and later attended the University of Maine in Orono, pursuing animal studies. She married the father of her seven children in 1950. She was busy raising her family for the next 20 years. Later in life, she re-married and enjoyed 10 wonderful years with her husband, Ernest “Pat” Morgan, who passed away in 1980. She is especially remembered for love, laughter and strength of family. Many years were spent working at Parkview Memorial Hospital as medical staff secretary. Maxine retired in 1995 to enjoy her active lifestyle, which included motorcycles, grandchildren, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, white water rafting, quilting, flower gardens and animals, especially rescuing retired greyhounds. She is survived by her brother, Elliott Lambert and wife, Janie, of Summerville, Tenn.; her children, Steve Gowen and wife, Janet, of Portland, Jo Gowen and husband, Tom, of Woodstock, Ross Gowen and wife, Penny, of Naples, Chuck Gowen and wife, Mary, of Pownal, Chris Gowen of Pownal, Sean Gowen and wife, Paula, of Westbrook, and Rhonda Thompson and husband, Curtis, of Freeport; stepchildren, Clifton Morgan and wife, Barbie, of Cundy’s Harbor, Gary Anderson and wife, Anne, of Harpswell, Melinda Prosser and husband, Dick, of Harpswell; multiple grandchildren and great-grand-children. The family extends their gratitude to Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice for the care and guidance during this most difficult time. Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Brunswick Church of Christ, 1 Jordan Ave., Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Brunswick Coastal Humane Society.
