EASTON – Maxwell “Max” Smith, 78, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at a Mars Hill healthcare facility. He was born April 30, 1925, in Easton, the son of Harvey and Nancy (Doak) Smith. Max served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for many years for the Town of Easton as a custodian, school bus driver, and snow plow operator. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 187 of Easton. He is survived by a sister, Marie Hewitt of Easton; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a special cousin, Earl Bowers of Carmel. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Estes Park Cemetery, Easton.
