VEAZIE – Melba “Mel” S. Crockett, 67, died March 23, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 13, 1939, in Nova Scotia, the daughter of James D. and Mildred M. (Barnes) Snyder. Mel worked in customer service in different retail stores for many years. She was an avid fan of Maine Black Bear Hockey and the Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed the years she spent judging at Speedway 95, and was head judge for the past three years. Mel loved knitting, gardening and doing puzzles, and especially loved the time spent with her grandchildren. Surviving in addition to her mother of Nova Scotia, are two children, Tanya C. Wentworth and her husband, Kevin, of Veazie and Tracy D. Crockett and his wife, Robin, of Bangor; two grandchildren, Ashley and Chantal Crockett; four brothers, Jimmy Snyder and his wife, Sharon, of Ontario, Wayne Snyder and his wife, Audrey, of Nova Scotia, William Snyder and his wife, Henriette and Len Snyder and his wife, Mary, all of Ontario; two sisters, Cheryl Mansfield and Margo Snyder, all of Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by her father; and a brother, Phillip Snyder. A special thanks goes to the staff of Ross Manor and CancerCare of Maine, especially Sandy W. of Eastern Maine Medical Center for their kindness, compassion and care of our mother. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kiley Funeral Home, 69 State St., Brewer, where family and friends may visit noon until the service begins.
