LAMBERT LAKE – Melvin Clarence Grass, 69, husband of Coral (Lane) Grass, died Aug. 16, 2004, in Vanceboro, from injuries received when his car was in a collision with a moose. He was born Nov. 15, 1934, in Vanceboro, the son of Alvin and Julia (Sprague) Grass. Melvin was a U.S. Marine veteran and a member of the American Legion. In addition to his wife, Coral, he is survived by a sister, Natalie Michalski; four children, Neil Grass, Julianne Grass, Goldi Day and Ticia Allen; six grandchildren, Michael Gwozdz, Stephanie Gwozdz, Misti Gray, Heather Grass, Tripp Platt and Hunter Day; 14 nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Vanceboro Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ellen Beairsto officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the trust fund (P.O. Box 33, Danforth, ME 04424) of Troy “Hunter” Day, who was the apple of his eye. Melvin will be missed by all.
