WESTON – Merle E. “Fred” Cropley, 67, husband of Una (Lee) Cropley, died March 27, 2004, at a Houlton healthcare facility. He was born April 8, 1936, in Danforth, the son of Wesley “Ben” and Geneva (Young) Cropley. Mr. Cropley worked in the woods industry, enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching the Red Sox. He was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his wife, Una, he is survived by his children, Paula and her husband, Maurice McLaughlin, of Stafford Springs, Conn., Trudy and her husband, Chuck Johnson, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Dawn and her husband, Dwayne Young, of Weston, Sandra Cropley of Bangor, Amber and her husband, Dave Brown, of Manchester, Conn., Wesley and his wife, Deborah Cropley, of Stafford Springs, Conn., and Teresa Cropley of Danforth; sisters, Violet and Judd Frye of Danforth, Barbara Cropley of Houlton, Glenna and John Crone of Danforth, Anita Barnes of Danforth, Veronica and Robert Crone of Danforth, Sheila and Arnold Estabrook of Amity; brothers, Franklin and Margeret Cropley of Braintree Mass., James and Glenna Cropley of Danforth; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Alvie “Tommy” Young and Glenn Cropley; and a sister Marie Krautler.
