ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – Merle Wellman Fletcher, 83, passed away Nov. 30, 2007, surround-ed by his loving family, at home. He was born Dec. 11, 1923, in Greenville Junction. He was an Army veteran and owned Fletcher Logging & Pulp Contractor, Orrington. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, Corinth and the Congregational Church, Orrington. He and his wife loved to travel and visited the entire continental U.S. with his family and a camper in tow. They also enjoyed hunting, fishing and all that the outdoors had to offer. They were always together, like two peas in a pod, no matter what they did. They had a beautiful life of 65 years together. He moved to Zephyrhills, Fla., 20 years ago. Mr. Fletcher was predeceased by his father and mother, Wellman and Made-line; and brothers, Norman and David. Survivors include his loving wife, Meta “Audrey;” daughters, Brenda Rice and William of Zephyrhills, Fla., Audrey “Vikki” Allen and Charles of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Deborah Atkinson and Joseph of Dresden; brother, Charles Fletcher and Mary Jane of North Canton, Ohio; sisters, Joyce Dunton of Belfast, Marion Harding and Richard of Orono; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial gathering will take place 2-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at Hodges Funeral Home, 36327 Hwy. 54 West, Zephyrhills, Fla., with a service to be held immediately after. There will be a graveside service announced at a later date in Maine.
