BANGOR and GLENBURN Mertie “Peggy” Walker, 83, passed away, June 15, 2007, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. She was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Forest Station, the daughter of Thomas Douglas and Mary Pearl (Cameron) Wheaton. Nothing gave Peggy more pleasure than to see people enjoying her wonderful cooking. She enjoyed country western music and loved to dance. Peggy was a gracious caregiver and reached out to many friends and families in need, and was always there to offer a helping hand. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crocheting and painting. Peggy is survived by two daughters, Linda Lou Berghultz and husband, Larry, of Great Falls, Mont., and Sandi Jean Granholm and husband, Jerry, of Hampden; three grandchildren, Jeffrey Granholm and wife, Jennifer, of Old Town, Tawny Eaton and husband, Kenny, of Helena, Mont., and Michelle Peterson and husband, Casey, of Plentywood, Mont.; a sister, Hazel Davis; three great-granddaughters, Cortney, Karli and Larymie; one great-grandson, Chase; a very special family friend, Donna Duren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Frederick “Harry” Walker; brothers, Archie, Bliss, Douglas and Freese; and sisters, Edith and Doris. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, with the Rev. Richard Reynolds officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the funeral service. Interment will be at Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln.
