JONESPORT – Michael L. Kirby, 54, passed away unexpectedly Sept. 4, 2007. He was born Dec. 11, 1952, in Jonesport, the son of Lewis and Emma Ann (Armstrong) Kirby. Michael graduated from Jonesport-Beals High School, in 1971. Upon graduation, Michael operated an auto body and paint shop up until the early 1980s. He then ventured into the seafood business starting TPS Industries as well as being affiliated with his father, Lewis, in the lobster pound business. Michael was a very active member of the Jonesport Planning Committee, having served much of his time there as chairman. He was a longtime member of the Jonesport Masonic Lodge No. 188 and was a past worshipful master. Michael was an active sponsor and coach of local T-ball teams in the last few years. He loved the blues. Michael especially enjoyed building model boats with his son. In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Lynne and their son, Jacob, Michael’s best pal; a sister, Janet Crowley and husband, Bruce, of Jonesport; four brothers-in-law, Clarence Fenton Jr. and wife, Debbie, of Columbia Falls, Jackie Fenton of Jonesport, Dale Fenton and wife, Lenell, of Scarborough, and Dana Fenton and wife, Ruth, of Jonesport; sister-in-law, Christine Fenton of Jonesport; special aunt, Barbara K. Young and companion, Sam Auerbach, of Jonesport and her children, Carol Y. Colby, John Cary Young, and Daryl L. Young; many nieces and nephews, several cousins, many close friends and business associates. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Maine Affiliate, 51 U.S. Route 1, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074 or to American Diabetes Association, Portland Office, 80 Elm St., Portland, ME 04101.
