ORLAND – Michael Stephen Handzel Sr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ May 25, 2007. He was born April 4, 1958, and lovingly raised in Camillus, N.Y., the son of Gladys and Stanley Handzel. Michael graduated from Syracuse University in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering. That fall, he began working for St. Regis Paper Co., Bucksport. He stayed with the Bucksport mill through all its transitions. When he passed away, he was the manager of Engineering Services and of Product Development. Michael enjoyed the great outdoors and warm sunny weather. He especially enjoyed camping, golfing, hunting and riding his Yamaha. Michael attended Evangelical Baptist Church, Bucksport, with his family, where he was a deacon and taught adult Sunday school classes. Michael is survived by his wife of 24 years, Linda; and their four children, Sarah, Stephanie, Mike Jr. and Benjamin. In addition to his mother and father, Michael is also survived by seven siblings; they are, Lynne and her husband, Dick, of Binghamton, N.Y., Mark and his wife, Janet, of San Diego, Bob and his wife, Donna, of Liverpool, N.Y., Tom of Atlanta, Nancy of Camillus, N.Y., Susan and her husband, Bruce, of Cicero, N.Y., and Caren and her husband, Walter, of Oneida, N.Y. Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at the Evangelical Baptist Church, Bucksport, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Michael Donato officiating. Interment will be at Back Ridge Cemetery, Orland. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the Evangelical Baptist Church, or the Church Academy, P.O.
