BUCKSPORT – Anne M. Cushing, 86, passed peacefully May 24, 2007. She was born May 11, 1921, in Island Falls, the daughter of Orin W. and Salome A. (Belyea) Brooks Sr. One of 10 children, Anne moved from Island Falls to Rockland, where she graduated from Rockland High School. She was a secretary before joining the Army during World War II, serving in Bermuda. She married Basil A. Cushing June 1, 1946, living in Blue Hill before moving to Bucksport in 1953. Anne retired from St. Regis Paper Co., after 18 years of service. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. Dunbar and her husband, Kendal, of Bucksport; three grandchildren, Darcy Carter of Washington, Thomas Mann and his wife, Tammy, of Ellsworth and Jeanine and her husband, Tiger Stewart, of Bucksport; four stepchildren, Kendal Dunbar Jr. and wife, Angie, of Vermont, Chris Dunbar and Billy Jo Frates of Bucksport, Michael Dunbar and wife, Christine, of Vermont and Kaylah Dunbar of Texas; nine great- grandchildren, Whitney, Ryan, Patrick, Dylan, Cassidy, Rylee, Nick, Heather and Michael; two sisters, Doris Landman of Orono and Eunice Leighton and her husband, Donald, of Brewer; six nieces and nephews, Sharon Allen, Anne Renulls and husband, Cliff, Philip Newbury, Fredrick Newbury, Lorraine Haynes, Arnold Ross and wife, Georgia; several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Basil in 1994; her brothers, Tom, Dan, Don, Bill and Bob; and two sisters, Helena and Irene. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
