BANGOR – Michael W. Monahan, 43, went to be with the Lord March 29, 2004, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born Sept. 13, 1960, in Bangor, the son of John J. Monahan Sr. and Ada (Bates) Monahan. A graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1978, he was an accomplished chef in the Bangor/Bar Harbor area for many years. Michael was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing, but his true passion was falconry. He is survived by his mother, Ada Monahan of Bangor; daughter, Courtney Monahan of Bangor; brothers, John Monahan and his wife, Judi, of Amherst, James Monahan and his wife, Sue, of Eddington; sisters, Nancy L. Hill of Bangor, Jayne E. Nesbit of Corinth; and nieces and nephews. Michael will be sadly missed by special friends, Scott and Vicki Keniston of Winterport, Beth (Tibbetts) Gray of Orrington, and Madeline Gardner of Bangor. Michael was predeceased by his father, John J. Monahan Sr.; and special uncle, Vance “Rod” Bates.
