BAR HARBOR – Michelle Ann Mills, 38, went to be with the Lord Sept. 12, 2007. Michelle was born Feb. 27, 1969, in Bar Harbor, the daughter of Jean Paulsen and Robert Macleod Jr. As a child she attended First Baptist Church of Bar Harbor and during the past year had given her heart to the Lord. Michelle was a very special big sister to her brother, Matt. They were always very close and she was always there for him when he needed her. Michelle was a great cook, an exceptional baker and mastered the art of candy making. For several years she provided her family and friends with a sweet box of goodies during the holiday season. Michelle was a very special and loving aunt to her niece, Lauryn. They would go on nature trips, have picnics, go swimming and sing. She attended Mount Desert Island High School, Beals College and graduated from the University of Maine in 1997, with a degree in social work. She worked for the State of Maine Department of Human Services as a caseworker for several years; she also worked in many area restaurants. She is survived by her mother, Jean Paulsen Young and stepfather, Gordon Young Jr., of Bar Harbor; her father, Robert Macleod Jr. and stepmother, Suzanne, of Ellsworth; sisters, Angeline Alley and husband, Brian, of South Ryegate, Vt., Melissa Tracy and husband, Steve, of Ellsworth and Robin Sue Tapley and husband, Wyman, of Bar Harbor; uncles, Glen Paulsen of Massachusetts, Harold Paulsen and wife, Susan, of Bar Harbor and Richard Black of New York; aunts, Melody Haskell of Bar Harbor, Charlotte Drake of Belfast; husband, Peter Mills; stepdaughter, Danielle Stanley and husband, Shawn, of Ells-worth; nieces, Lauryn and Jordan Alley and Kaitlyn Tracy; cousins, Benjamin and Adam Paulsen; maternal grandmother, Marilyn Swetnam; paternal grandmother, Theresa Black, both of Bar Harbor; maternal great-grandmother, Doris Paulsen of Rockland; paternal grandfather, Robert Macleod Sr. of Southwest Harbor. She was predeceased by brother, Matthew Grant; maternal grandfather, Ralph Paulsen; and great-grandmothers, Marguerite Paine and Kathryn Robinson. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Jordan-Fernald, 48 Eden St., Bar Harbor, with the Rev. Scott Records officiating. Interment will be at Ledgelawn Cemetery, Bar Harbor.
