VANCEBORO – Miles C. Cropley Sr., 72, died peacefully Sept. 23, 2007, surrounded by his family at Calais Regional Hospital. He was born July 3, 1935, the son of the late Miles and Helen (Swaney) Cropley. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Patricia “Patsy” Cropley of Vanceboro; three sons, Chris McLaughlin and wife, Mary, of McAdam, New Bruns-wick, Miles Cropley Jr. and Billy Cropley and wife, Corinna, of Vanceboro; two daughters, Carolyn Osborne and fianc?, Roger King, of McAdam, New Brunswick, and Beth Ruby of Portland; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ferne Farnham of East Machias and Joan Brakeman and husband, Burr, of Vanceboro; one uncle, John Swaney of Hartford, Conn.; cousins, several nieces, nephews and lots of friends who will greatly miss him. Miles was predeceased by two sisters, Mabel June and Carol Ann. Miles was an avid fisherman and had many friends who enjoyed fishing with him. He enjoyed many mornings sitting with his friends, talking and enjoying good stories. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and in the reserves for 10 years. He retired from Maine Central Railroad after 40 plus years. He was also a member of the American Legion and Knights of Pithiest. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Vanceboro Methodist Church. A luncheon will be after at the church.
