MILDRED A. THIELE PALMYRA – Mildred A. Thiele, 86, died Nov. 4, 2007, at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born Dec. 17, 1920, in Allen-town, Pa., a daughter of Frank and Ida (Sawyer) Thomas. She graduated from Rutgers University and married William S. Thiele, Jan. 31, 1940. She was employed as school lunch supervisor for the Newport school system, having first worked at Newport Elementary School and retiring from Nokomis Regional High School. Mildred was a member of People’s United Methodist Church, Newport and participated in the church choir for many years. In addition to her husband of 67 years, she is survived by a son, William “Billy” and wife, Vicki Thiele, of Hollis; a bro-ther, Robert and wife, Pat Thomas, of Kentucky; three sisters, Barbara and husband, Wood-row Matthews, Blanche Thiele and Phyllis Caparn, all of New Jersey; three grandchildren, Christopher and wife, Marissa, of Portland, Jeremy and wife, Stephanie, of Tewksbury, Mass., and Amanda Thiele of Gorham; one great-grandson, William Christopher Thiele; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 3-5 p.m. Tuesday at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Augusta. Due to allergies, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to People’s United Methodist Church, 127 Main St., Newport, ME 04953.
