MILDRED F. LIBBY CHARLESTON – Mildred F. Libby, 77, went home to be with her beloved Lord and Savior May 8, 2004, at Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, after a brief stay and a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Charleston, the daughter of Harold and Elsie (Smith) French. She graduated Salutatorian from Higgins Classical Institute in June 1944. She married Ora Libby Jr. on June 9, 1945, and together they owned a very successful construction business. She was a member of the Church of the Open Bible in Charleston since it began in 1974, and was a life member of Silver Leaf Chapter, O.E.S. in Charleston. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years in 1997. She will be lovingly and sadly missed by two devoted children, a son, Eric Libby; a daughter, Cheryl Arnold and her husband, Steven, all of Charleston; a granddaughter, Nicci Arnold of Dover-Foxcroft; a grandson, Steven Arnold II of Charleston; a great-grandson who loved to play with his Nana M, Nathanial Crochere of Dover-Foxcroft; a sister, Murial Simpson and her husband, Roger, of Corinna; a brother, John French and his wife, Charlene, of Dover-Foxcroft; a sister, Rachel Watson and her husband, Steve, of Levant; a sister-in-law, Marion Warren of Topsham; a very special niece, Alice Duthie of Charleston; a very special friend, Shirley Higgins of Charleston; many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Graveside funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Corinthian Cemetery in Corinth, with the Rev. Ronald Young officiating. Arrangements are by the Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth.
