SCARBOROUGH, SACO and FORT FAIRFIELD – Mildred J. Cloney, 85, of Holmes Road, Scarborough, formerly of Ferry Road, Saco, passed away peacefully Easter Sunday, April 16, 2006, at Scarborough, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Sept. 24, 1920, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Herbert Sr. and Isabel (Johnston) Cloney. She attended Fort Fairfield schools and was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1937. She was a retired manager of F.W. Woolworth stores, where she was employed for 49 years. She began her extensive career at the Fort Fairfield Woolworth store where she remained for several years. She was later promoted to a management position and managed several stores throughout the state of Maine. Her last transfer was to the Biddeford store where she remained until her retirement in 1986. Mildred loved working for the F.W. Woolworth Company and over the years since her retirement, had remained close to and very fond of many of the people she worked with. Her life centered around her career, family and the Faith Lighthouse Church of Old Orchard Beach, where she was very fond of the Rev. Merle Mitchell and his wife, Kathy. Mildred had resided in Scarborough for the last six years since her illness with her brother, Philip Cloney and his wife, Tammy and their son, Kevin. She enjoyed gardening, reading and watching her favorite television shows, “Jeopardy” and “Wheel of Fortune.” She especially enjoyed taking care and spending time with the family dogs, Ellie and Buddy. Mildred thought the world of Kevin and especially cherished the time she spent with him, reading and playing games. Mildred’s family expresses their deep appreciation for the professional and loving care given to her by the doctors and staff of S.M.M.C, all the wonderful and caring staff at Pine Point Nursing Center of Scarborough and to the wonderful staff at VNA Hospice, with special thanks to Rosalie, Jean and Liz for making a difficult time easier to bear. In addition to her parents, Mildred was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard and Herbert Cloney Jr. She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Philip and Tammy Cloney and their son, Kevin, all of Scarborough; several nieces and nephews, Alice, Betty, Sherrie, Paul, Philip and Randy; one special nephew with whom Mildred shared a close bond, Dana Cloney and his wife, Susan, of Northfield, Conn.; and one special cousin whose bond was like a sister, Charlotte Morehouse and her husband, Keith, of Terryville, Conn. Friends may call 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. with the Rev. Merle Mitchell officiating. Interment will take place at the Riverside Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Ms. Cloney to the National Kidney Foundation, P.O.
