DEXTER – Mildred Violet Wyman, 88, died July 11, 2007, surrounded by her family at home. She was born April 24, 1919, in Belgrade, a daughter of Wesley and Claire (Cunningham) Knowles. Mildred worked very hard all her life, raising her family, and also outside the home, driving school bus, and at Dexter Shoe for many years. She was a 50-year member of the Grange and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She will be remembered for her molasses cookies and the beautiful sweet peas she offered to the fire department for their annual auctions. She is survived by her eight children, Judith Garneau of Florida, David and Jody of Garland, Geraldine and William Rizzitello of Guilford, Barbara and Gerald Marshall of Corinna, Richard and Diane of Kentucky, Norman and Marsha, Melvin and Catherine, and Roger and Judy, all of Dexter; a special daughter-in-law, Vickie of Dexter; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester; son, Mark; grandson, Scott; and son-in-law, Gary Garneau. At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 16, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
