PRESQUE ISLE – Monica Teresa (Riley) Brennan, 81, passed peacefully Nov. 13, 2007, in the arms of her family, at home. Monica was born June 23, 1926, in Johnville, New Brunswick, the daughter of Hanorah and Charles Francis Riley. Monica graduated in 1948 from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing, St. John, New Bruns-wick. She worked as a nurse in a variety of settings and was also a volunteer for Hospice of Aroostook after retirement. Monica married Thomas Vincent Brennan, M.D., May 22, 1950, in Johnville, New Bruns-wick. Monica and Tom enjoyed 44 years of marriage before his death, Oct. 5, 1990. Monica’s family nickname was “Toots.” Toots was well known for her sense of humor, laughter and selflessness, and for her love of family. She celebrated every individual as having a unique and important value. Monica displayed a softness and kindness that was felt by all that she met. Monica loved quilting and left many quilts that will continue to be treasured. Monica and Tom had five children, Mary Agnes Brennan of Hancock, Norah Michalene Brennan of Bend, Ore., Thomas Brennan III of Hinesville, Vt., Sean Brennan of Seneca Falls, N.Y., and Mary Katherine Brennan of Hermon; grandchildren, Riley Booker of Salt Lake City, Aren Booker of Bend, Ore., Sarah Codraro of Hancock, Malachi Brennan and Liam Brennan, both of Hinesville, Vt., Kaitlyn Brown of Hermon; two sisters, Sister Patricia Riley, S.C.I.C. and Celine Calhoun, both of St. John, New Brunswick; also her bro-ther, Clarence “Bus” Riley of Moncton, New Brunswick. She was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Dorothy Crain, Thomas Riley, Regina Clarke, Carney Riley and Don Riley. A service of remembrance will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at St. John the Evangelist Church, Johnville, New Brunswick.
