GREENVILLE, N.C. – Mr. Morris Golden Pilot, 79, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at his home. Mr. Pilot, a native and longtime resident of Bangor, was a retired judge. He lived in Florida for 14 years and had made his home in Greenville, N.C. since 2002. He attended the University of Maine as an English major, graduating in 1947, and in 1950 graduated from Boston University School of Law. Mr. Pilot practiced law with his father, Michael Pilot, until he was appointed as a District Court Judge in 1966. He remained on the bench until 1980, at which point he practiced law and taught at various college levels. Mr. Pilot was a member of the Maine State Bar Association and the Penobscot County Bar Association. Mr. Pilot was a longtime member of Congregation Beth Israel in Bangor, where his grandfather served as a Rabbi. He was also a member of Congregation Beth Abraham in Bangor. Mr. Pilot is survived by his wife, Ann Savitt Pilot; daughter, Samantha Pilot of Greenville, N.C.; daughter, Rohna Paskow of West Chester, Pa.; son, Robert Pilot of Raleigh, N.C.; sister, Merna Lipsitt of Brookline, Mass.; grandchildren, Alex and Andrew Lavine, Aliza and Adam Paskow, and Joseph and Kimberly Pilot. A graveside funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in Pinewood Memorial Park, Greenville, N.C. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 3015 S. Memorial Drive, Suite A, Greenville, N.C. 27834. Arrangements are by Wilkerson Funeral Home and Crematory, Greenville, N.C.
