PRESQUE ISLE – Myrtle (Whipple) Sperry, 90, died peacefully April 25, 2008, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Masardis, the daughter of William and Hattie (Carson) Whipple. Myrtle is survived by her husband, Elton Sperry of Mars Hill; four daughters, Donna Auclair of Presque Isle, Margaret Berube of Ashford, Conn., Ruthene Coty and her husband, Gordon, of Ashland and Wanda Flint and her husband, Charlie, of Washburn; and one son, Eugene Sperry of Presque Isle. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jannet Robinson; and by five sisters and three brothers. Myrtle loved playing horseshoes, cards and bowling. She was a great prankster and played many tricks on her family and friends. She leaves them with many great memories they will cherish for years to come, and will be missed dearly by all who knew her. God saw her getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around her and whispered, come to me. Myrtle was a member of the congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses since 1979 and believed that when she died she would be resurrected as reflected in John 5:28-29. She really looked forward to life in the paradise earth that God promises to all who love and serve Him, where there will be no more sickness or death. Her family wishes to thank all the brothers and sisters for their support. Relatives and friends may call 10 a.m. until time of service at Stimson-Ouellette Funeral Home, 114 Exchange St., Ashland. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 28, at the funeral home. A gathering for family and friends will be held at Ashland Motor Lodge after the service. Interment will be at Willard Cemetery, Oxbow, later in the spring. Those who wish may contribute in her memory to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, care of Gene Curtis, Houlton Road, Presque Isle, ME 04769.
