SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Marguerite Carter Scott, 95, died April 27, 2008, in Southwest Harbor. She was born Oct. 22, 1912, in Seal Cove, the daughter of Benjamin and Helen (Stewart) Carter. Marguerite and her husband, Robert, lived many years at their cottage on Seal Cove in the summer and wintered in Unity. She and Robert were house parents for many years at Gould Academy. Marguerite had many hobbies, including making rugs, sweaters, clothes and wedding dresses. She was a member of St. Andrew Episcopal Church and St. John Episcopal, Southwest Harbor. She was a member of Unity Union Church while living in Unity. While living in Southwest Harbor, Marguerite had many, many feline friends and loved them all. She is survived by her nephew, Carol Murphy and wife, Irene, who have been her caregivers for the past 17 years, in their home; nephew, Allen Murphy of Southwest Harbor; nephew-in-law, Percy Blaisdell of Ellsworth; many great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews and three great-great-great-nieces and great-great-great-nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Robert; and a niece, Virginia Blaisdell. Calling hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, at Jordan-Fernald, 1139 Main St., Mount Desert. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at St. John Episcopal Church, Southwest Harbor. Interment will be at Center Cemetery, Seal Cove.
