NATHAN (NATE) DOUGLAS HALL ORONO – Former Alaska resident Mr. Nathan (Nate) Douglas Hall, 55, died Nov. 27, 2003, at his home in Orono, Maine. He was born June 1, 1948, to David and Susan Hall in Vinalhaven. He migrated with his family to Alaska in 1967. He graduated from the Alaska State Trooper Academy in Sitka in 1969 and served in the Soldotna and Homer detachments from 1970 through 1976. While in Homer he was the enforcement officer aboard the Fish & Wildlife Protection vessels the Enforcer and the Wolstad. He was a commercial fisherman from 1977 through 1995 while also working as a contract driver for the Anchorage Times and later for the Alaska Daily News from 1988 through 1995. He worked for the Anchorage School District from 1995 until the fall of 2001 when he took a medical retirement. At that time he was the night lead custodian at Bayshore Elementary, a job he enjoyed and where he was made to feel greatly appreciated by the staff and students. Nate was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time woodworking, bending knots, painting and helping others. He was also a generous supporter of many charitable organizations. Nate was predeceased by his parents, Susan and David Hall and brother, John Hall. Survivors include his son, Adrian Hall and his wife, Tammy, and daughter, Natalie Hall, sister, Nancy Hall and her husband, Michael Curtis; sister, Elizabeth Mares; uncle, Douglas Hall and his wife, Jean, all of Maine; brother, Bill Hall and his wife, Lois and brother, David Hall and his wife, Franny, of Anchorage, Alaska; and six grandchildren, 10 nieces and three nephews of Maine and Alaska, all of whom will miss him very much.
