ELIOT – Neil Arthur Rideout Sr., 69, of Brixham Road, died Sept. 26, 2006, at his home after a period of failing health. Born May 27, 1937, in Washburn, he was a son of Harry Rosebrook and Winnifred (Plissey) Rideout. He attended local schools including Washburn High School. After high school, he served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy, both active duty and in the reserves. In 1963, he married his wife, Wilma (Brown) Rideout and together they shared 21 years together. He was employed as a pipefitter/brazer in shop No. 56 at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years, retiring in 1992. Neil made his home on the Brixham Road, Eliot for the last 21 years. He was well known as Marshwood’s top fan, enjoying all of the sporting programs at the school, especially girl’s basketball and baseball. He enjoyed time spent at his grandchildren’s sporting events as they grew, as well. He is survived by his former wife and lifelong friend, Wilma L. Rideout of Kittery; a daughter, Kerry and her husband, Jeff Farren, of Kittery; a son, Neil A. Rideout Jr. of Kittery; grandchildren, Bryan Russell Farren and Daniel Edmund Farren of Kittery and Ashley Marie Farren of Sanford; sisters, Gwen and her husband, Edward St. John, of Presque Isle and Geraldine and her husband, Berry Stoddard, of Concord, N.H.; and a brother, Harry and his wife, Sharon Rideout, of Hermon; as well as, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Rideout. A funeral will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, at the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery. Friends may visit with Neil’s family 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, Kittery.
