MARSHFIELD – Nellie D. Roberts, 91, went to be with the Lord and her beloved husband Sunday, June 1, 2008, at Sunrise Care Facility, Jonesport. She was born March 17, 1917, in Machias, the daughter of the late Ambrose R. and Fannie I. (Gardner) Demmons. She worked for many years at Marshall Health Care, Cooper Street. She enjoyed cooking and canning for her family, and enjoyed going to church. She was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Clarence R. Roberts. Family members include her children, Charles R. Goodwin and wife, Georgia, of Saldartna, Alaska, Edith Bryant and family of East Machias, Richard Goodwin and wife, Lee, of Anchorage and Big Lake, Alaska, and Bernice C. Albee of East Machias, 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bessie A. Davis of Machias. She is also survived by a special friend, Jean S. Goodwin and family of Leominster, Mass. She was also predeceased by a brother, Ralph (Brownie) Gardner; and a sister, Lillian Pearl Reed. Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, Kennebec Road, Machias. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family noon Thursday until the hour of the service.
