CASWELL – Nelson J. Bell, 82, died Aug. 2, 2005, at a Bangor hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 14, 1923, in Caswell, the son of Sandy and Mamie (Mockler) Bell. He was self-employed as a potato farmer for many years. Mr. Bell is survived by four daughters, Linda Oglesby and her husband, Gary, of DelRio, Texas, Brenda Merritt and her husband, Larry, of Pine Top, N.M., Darlene Trejo and her husband, Raul, of Fairfield, Calif., Lisa Boyette and her husband, Gary, of Hickory, N.C.; three sons, Glenn Bell and his companion, Kate Dunleavy, of Limestone, Bruce Bell and his wife, Brenda, of Litchfield, Bryan Bell and his wife, Susan, of Levant; one sister, Connie Murphy of Oxford; three brothers, Lawrence Bell and his companion, Ann Carroll, of Limestone, Adrian Bell and his wife, Arline, of Wells, Vinal Bell and his wife, Jackie, of Caribou; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his long-time friend and companion, Marie Mae Labreck of Caswell. Nelson was predeceased by his wife, Yvette (Rioux) Bell in 1996; one daughter, Sharon Bell in 1959; and by a brother, Elmer Bell in 1962. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hamlin. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
