VAN BUREN – Nelson J. Violette, 64, died unexpectedly Sept. 25, 2005, at his Laplante Heights residence. He was born March 6, 1941, in Van Buren, the son of Fred F. and Catherine (Martin) Violette. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for many years for the town of Van Buren highway department. Nelson is survived by two daughters, Sonia Dubay and her husband, Paul, of Palm City, Fla. and Kim Morin of St. David; three grandchildren, Natalie and Eric Morin of St. David and Adam Dubay of Florida; three brothers, Alfred Violette and George Violette, both of Van Buren, Robert Violette of Hamlin; six sisters, Cecile Violette, Eva Nunley, and Shirley Violette, all of Van Buren, Jeannette Lint of Columbia, S.C., Freda Cyr of New Britain, Conn. and Aline Deese of Fruitdale, Ala. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Omer Violette; and by two sisters, Gilberte Pasko and Rita Bergen.Relatives and friends may call from noon Friday until time of service at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Friday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. Committal service and interment will be in the parish cemetery.
