OAKFIELD – Nelson Morton Sr., 82, died on March 7, 2004, at Houlton. He was born on Nov. 14, 1921, in Oakfield, the son of Moses and Vanessa (Porter) Morton. Nelson was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II. He is survived by three sons, Nelson Jr. of Valdosta Ga., William of Island Falls, Richard Sr. of Oakfield; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Carl Morton of Connecticut, Donald Morton of Ashland, and Gordon Morton of Oakfield; one sister, Rita Pratt of Oakfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; and by his wife, June. A graveside service will be held in the Oakfield Cemetery in the spring.
