BREWER – Nicholas Sparks, Jr., 88, died peacefully, Nov. 9, 2003, at a Bangor hospital. Nick was born on Dec. 3, 1914, in South Brewer, where he spent most of his life. Nicholas spent 50 years at Eastern Fine Paper, where he was the Coater Forman and proudly severed as an Army Captain in World War II. He especially enjoyed being on the water and having conversations with friends and family. He was a devoted family man who always put his family first. Nick will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunity to know him and everyone he has touched. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughter, Melissa Snow and her husband, James, of Brewer, and their two sons, Jeffrey, and Jamie along with his wife, Liza, of Las Vegas, Nev. He is also survived by his two sisters, Lena Largay of Bangor, and Eula Skypeck of Enfield, Conn.; several nephews, one of whom was very special to him, Larry Largay and his wife, June, of Brewer. He was predeceased by his sister, Martha Owen of Fayetteville, N.C. Services and burial at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor, will be private. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Brewer High School Class of 1932 Scholarship fund.
