DOVER-FOXCROFT and TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Noel Evans Brown, 54, died Dec. 4, 2004, at his mother’s residence in Dover-Foxcroft. He was born April 7, 1950, in Bangor, the son of Wendell L. and Doris (Neal) Brown. A native of Maine and resident of Tallahassee, Fla., he was a member of the Congregational Church. He was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1968, and received a Bachelor of Science in economics from Boston University in 1972. Noel received a Masters degree from Florida State University in urban and regional planning in 1976. He worked as head of transportation planning for the city of Tallahassee from 1974 until 1993; he served as a partner in Sechrest Design Company until his death. An avid world traveler, Noel will be remembered by his family and friends as a man with an enormous sense of adventure, a very caring heart and a gentle soul. Noel is survived by his life partner of 24 years, John Clay Sechrest III of Tallahassee, Fla.; his mother, Doris Brown of Dover-Foxcroft; a goddaughter, Julia Stake of Tallahassee, Fla.; an aunt, Marjorie Brown of Brewer; and many loving friends. He was predeceased by his father, Wendell L. Brown. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
