BLUE HILL – Nora S. Grindle, 83, died Jan. 5, 2008, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 7, 1924, in Penobscot, the daughter of Harvey P. and Laura (Gray) Staples. Nora worked at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1989. She was very active with her family and the community. Nora enjoyed crafting, especially sewing and quilting. She was a 50-year member of Mountain Rebekah Lodge No. 87, Duffy Wescott Post No. 85 and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Basil; sons, Robert of East Hartford, Conn., Jack and wife, Barbara, Thomas and wife, May, and Roger and wife, Susan, all of Blue Hill; daughters, Barbara Grindle and Jane McVay and husband, Raymond, both of Sedgwick; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grand-children; sister, Vergelia Gray of Blue Hill; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, David Grindle; great-granddaughter, Jennie Overlock; brother-in-law, Alton Gray; son-in-law, Burt Grindle; and nephew, Ted Gray. Calling hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Jordan-Fernald, 141 South St., Blue Hill. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at North Sedgwick Baptist Church.
