FORT FAIRFIELD and LIMESTONE – Noreen “Bit” Gallop, 74, wife of Lawrence Gallop, died Friday morning, Sept. 22, 2006, at her Fort Fairfield residence, after an extended illness. She was born June 21, 1932, at home in Limestone, the daughter of Louis Franck and Elizabeth (Lovely) Michaud and was the wife of the late Richard S. Hoyt III. Noreen attended school in Limestone and Fort Fairfield and worked at Aroostook Shoe, Presque Isle for 25 years. She was a gifted seamstress, decorator and crafter and will be remembered for her beauty, warmth and quick wit. Noreen is survived by her husband of 15 years, Lawrence Gallop of Fort Fairfield; two daughters, Elaine Hopkins and her husband, Donald, of Lakeland, Fla., and Selena Belser and her husband, James, of Pulaski, N.Y.; two sons, Richard S. Hoyt IV and his wife, Michon, of Fort Fairfield and David L. Hoyt of Orlando, Fla.; three sisters, Norma Haines and her husband, Robert, of Canton, Ga., Katherine Wadsworth and Linda Griffin and her husband, Ronald, all of Venron, Conn.; three brothers, Gregory Michaud and his wife, Hazel, of Windham, Conn., Harold Michaud and his wife, Rosemary, of Plainfield, Conn., and Louis F. Michaud Jr. of Norwich, Conn.; one uncle, Thomas Michaud of Stockbridge, Vt.; seven stepdaughters, two stepsons, three grandsons, five granddaughters, one great-granddaughter, two great-grandsons, 13 stepgrandchildren and 49 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; six brothers, Philip, Vaughn, Nathan, Stephen, Robert and Billy Michaud; and two sisters, Eunice Estey and Beverly Snow. In keeping with Noreen’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Noreen’s life 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at her residence, 539 Center Limestone Road, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Noreen to the charity or organization of one’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.
