SILVER SPRINGS, Fla., and MILLINOCKET – Norma A. Foote, 85, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, from an Ocala (Fla.) health care facility. She was born Feb. 28, 1922, in West Sebois, the daughter of William and Edna (Bragg) Shaw. Norma was very active in the Millinocket Baptist Church for many years, teaching Sunday school, working with the choir and many charitable events with the church. She was also involved with many skits at the church with Roger Boynton, Ozzie Pound Jr., Shanks and Dot Kelly. Norma made hand puppets, teddy bears and animals for neighborhood children, as well as flying her handmade kites with them. She loved her little nature walks in the surrounding woods near her home, where she would gather berries and wild flowers. Norma will be dearly missed by all of her family. She is survived by a son, Thomas Foote and his wife, Catherine; a daughter-in-law, Linda Foote of Hyde Park, Mass.; a brother, Richard Shaw and his wife, Mary Ellen, all of Millinocket; two sisters, Jean Peters and her husband, Vaughn, of Mattawamkeag and Avis Keene of Bar Harbor; four grandchildren, Diana Nicholson and her husband, Rick, of East Millinocket, Karen Birmingham and her husband, Kirk, of Millinocket, Scott Foote of Oxnard, Calif., and Wendy Lactara and her husband, Ted, of Southwick, Mass.; three great-grandchildren, Melanie, Amanda and Andrea; five great-great-grandchildren, Nat-alie, Lillian, Emily, Andrew and Michael; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Norma was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Lewis C. Foote in 1994; a son, Allen Foote in 2007; and siblings, Hattie Lovejoy, Christine Pratt, Mary Pratt and Francis Shaw. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at Millinocket Baptist Church, 297 Penobscot Ave., Millinocket, with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck, interim pastor, officiating. Spring interment will be at Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Norma may be sent to Katahdin Area Support Group, 10 Field St., Millinocket, ME 04462.
